Our office received the following notice from TTC:
As kids head back to school, it is important you know what we have been doing at the TTC to make sure our transit system is clean and safe for your children. We are all in this together and we want to let you know what changes we have made on our end, and also to remind you of some steps that you can take.
The safety of our customers – especially your children – remains our priority: • If your kids are sick – please keep them home. We have signs in all our stations reminding people to stay home if they are unwell. • We implemented a mandatory face covering policy at the beginning of July, which requires everyone to wear a face covering or mask if they are able. We know there are certain exceptions to this policy, including children under two or those with medical conditions who are unable to wear a face covering or put on or take off a face covering by themselves. • We have announcements on all of our buses and in all our stations reminding customers that they are required to wear a face covering or mask when travelling on the TTC. • We are disinfecting and cleaning all of our stations, buses, streetcars, trains and Wheel-Trans vehicles several times a day. We are especially focused on common touch and grab points, such as buttons, railings, handles and straps. • We have installed hand sanitizer dispensers at all of our stations and on our streetcars. • We have signage posted in all of our stations, including markers on the floor and at the fare gates to help people enter and exit the station. We also have decals on all subway platforms as well as on the seats in our vehicles. • We have committed to handing out one million masks to our riders. We have employees in our stations handing out disposable, one-time-use masks to customers who do not have one. This will continue throughout the fall.
